TrueFix Tampa

Appliance Service for Tampa Houses, Condos and Rentals

Garage laundry pairs, condo dishwashers, bungalow kitchens and the second fridge out by the water heater: we repair them where they're installed, for homeowners, renters, landlords and small businesses across Hillsborough County. The technician finds the fault on the spot and quotes it; nothing is fixed without your sign-off. Choose your area below to see its ZIP list and the communities it includes.

Condos & gated communities
High-rises Downtown or on Bayshore, HOA gates in Westchase or New Tampa: put the gate code, elevator rules or guest parking spot in your notes.
Tenants & owners
A renter can set up the visit. We report the diagnosis and the quote to whoever owns the appliance, and they sign off before the repair.
Bungalows & older houses
In a pre-war bungalow or an early ranch, a modern appliance may be wired into a much older house. We look at the outlet, supply line and vent along with the unit.
Straight answers
If an older unit isn't worth the money to fix, we say so plainly and show you which part gave out.
Mostly electric kitchens
Electric and induction cooking outnumber gas around Tampa, though gas ranges exist. Tell us which you have and read us the tag behind the drawer.
Lightning and surges
A nearby strike can take out a control board while the elements are fine. If the failure followed a storm, say so in your booking.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Tell Us the Symptom

Tell us the appliance, its maker and the symptom. A photo of the model plate saves a step.

02

In-Home Testing

At your place the technician checks the unit and its outlet, water supply, drain or vent to find the fault.

03

A Price You Approve

We explain what failed and quote the repair. Nothing is done until you agree to the price.

04

Fix and Check

With the part fitted, we run the appliance through a cycle while you're there to confirm the fix.

Appliance Repair Notes for Hillsborough County

We cover 5 service areas and 42 ZIP codes in Hillsborough County: the City of Tampa from Port Tampa to New Tampa, the City of Temple Terrace, Plant City in the east, and the unincorporated communities around them, from Town 'n' Country and Northdale to Brandon, Valrico, Riverview, Gibsonton, Apollo Beach, Ruskin and Sun City Center. Home appliances and restaurant kitchen gear are both on our list. A technician looks the machine over where it stands, tells you what broke and quotes the fix, and nothing gets done until you agree to that price.

Tampa sits where the Hillsborough River meets Hillsborough Bay, with Old Tampa Bay to the west, and the county around it is flat, low ground threaded with lakes, ponds, canals and the Alafia River. I-275, I-4, I-75 and the Selmon Expressway carry most trips. The oldest homes are close to the water in Tampa: Hyde Park, Ybor City's cigar-worker cottages, the Seminole Heights bungalows. Postwar block ranches spread through West Tampa, Town 'n' Country, Carrollwood and Brandon. From the 1990s on came HOA subdivisions in Westchase, New Tampa, Valrico and Riverview, while Apollo Beach grew around its canals, Sun City Center filled with 55-and-over streets, and Plant City and Dover kept more open land in the east.

A few things hold everywhere. The water table is high and homes sit on concrete slabs, most of them block and stucco, so the washer and dryer go in a laundry room, a closet or the garage. Summers are long, hot and wet, with thunderstorms most afternoons. Electric ranges and dryers are the norm and gas the exception. Only Tampa, Temple Terrace and Plant City are cities here. Brandon, Valrico, Riverview, Gibsonton, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Sun City Center, Wimauma, Dover and Town 'n' Country are unincorporated county communities, whatever the mailing address says.

Call us or book online, and pick the visit time that suits your day.

Bungalows, block ranches, canal homes and two-story HOA houses

A Seminole Heights bungalow and a two-story house in Riverview share a county and little else. In Tampa's older neighborhoods we deal with porch laundry, aging circuits and landlords; in the postwar suburbs, garage laundry and hot garage refrigerators; in the HOA communities of Westchase, Valrico and Riverview, gates, upstairs laundry rooms and dryer vents that climb through the attic; in the towers, building registration and service elevators. Parts of the south and east county add manufactured homes and houses on larger lots.

That is why booking starts with two questions: where does the appliance sit, and in what sort of house? A canal house in Apollo Beach, a villa in Sun City Center and a Downtown condo each change which parts come along and where the diagnosis starts.

Heat, humidity and the 2024 storms

Heat and moisture drive most of what goes wrong. Garage refrigerators and freezers run without rest from May to October, front-load washer gaskets grow mildew, door seals sweat and long attic dryer vents collect lint. Afternoon lightning, and the jolt when power returns, can damage control boards. The local water is hard on every system, so scale builds in ice makers, dishwashers and washer inlet screens.

In 2024 the county saw two very different storms. Helene's surge in late September set records at the East Bay and Old Port Tampa gauges and flooded Davis Islands, Bayshore Boulevard and parts of Apollo Beach. About two weeks later Milton brought no surge to Tampa Bay, where the water drained out instead, but it dropped close to 19 inches of rain near Westchase, pushed the Alafia River to its highest level at Lithia since 1933 and caused the largest outage in Tampa Electric's history.

Have the model number ready

A photo of the rating label beats any description of the symptom. It pins down the part numbers and that model's known weak spots, and it makes a one-visit repair far more likely.

Every part we fit is chosen by that model number. Original manufacturer parts come first when they can be had; if an equivalent is the better or only option, you hear that before it goes in.

When a replacement is the better buy

Some appliances are done. When the repair would cost close to half the price of a comparable new model, and yours is already near the end of its expected life, the money is usually better spent on a replacement.

Built-ins are the exception, because replacing one means cabinet or counter work as well. We'll set out both options and you choose.

Storms, outages and food safety

After a long outage, give the refrigerator several hours to get back down to temperature before deciding it's broken. Throw away the first ice it makes and check that the ice maker restarted.

Still not cold by the following morning? Washer or range panel gone dark? Book a visit and include the model. A lightning hit nearby, or the spike as a line comes back, is hard on electronic boards, and replacing one is usually a straightforward job.

Beyond the county line

Our coverage also takes in Pinellas County (3 areas), Pasco County (4 areas) and Hernando County (1 area). The service-areas page lists each ZIP code we cover, and the ZIP search on this page checks yours.

FAQ

Hillsborough County Repair Questions

A few plain answers before you book. Details about your home or the appliance can go in the form's notes field.

Didn't see your question?

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.

A Tampa mailing address doesn't settle it. Only Tampa, Temple Terrace and Plant City are cities; Brandon, Riverview, Town 'n' Country, Carrollwood, Apollo Beach, Ruskin and the rest are unincorporated and governed by the county. The county property appraiser's record shows which applies. We serve both the same way.

Tampa with Temple Terrace and the unincorporated communities around them, Brandon and Valrico, Riverview and Gibsonton, Ruskin and Apollo Beach with Sun City Center and Wimauma, and Plant City. A few ZIP codes are outside our map, including the MacDill Air Force Base and USF campus ZIPs, so check yours on the service-area page.

Yes, but the appliance has to stay unplugged until we've inspected it. We check the motor, pump, wiring and control for salt and silt, explain what the water damaged and quote the repair, and if replacing it makes more sense, we say so.

Brand, model, what it's doing wrong, and any code copied character for character. Better yet, snap the sticker with the model and serial on it; nothing else does as much to get the right part to your Hillsborough County door the first time.

Yes. If the repair would cost a large share of a comparable new appliance and yours is near the end of its expected life, we'll recommend replacing it, in Hillsborough County or anywhere else we work. Built-ins are the usual exception, since replacing one brings cabinet work with it.

Yes. Cafés, bars, restaurants and small shops in Hillsborough County call us for walk-in and reach-in refrigeration, sandwich and pizza prep units, ice makers, fryers, griddles and commercial ovens. Tell us when your rush is and we'll plan the visit around it.
