Maytag Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Around Tampa, Maytag usually means a washer and dryer pair out in the garage or tucked into a hall closet, and often a matching kitchen that came with the house. We fix them on our own account, with no link to Maytag or Whirlpool, so a machine that is still inside the maker's warranty belongs with them first. Once it is not, a technician looks at it where it stands, tells you what broke, and gives you a price you approve before work begins.

Which Maytag Appliance Needs Work?
A Maytag today is built on Whirlpool hardware
Whirlpool Corporation took over Maytag in 2006 and folded its laundry production into Whirlpool's own Ohio plants: washers come out of Clyde and dryers out of Marion. The old Maytag factory in Newton, Iowa, where the brand started, no longer builds appliances.
For a repair, the practical upshot is that a current Maytag shares most of its inner hardware with the Whirlpool, Amana and KitchenAid models built alongside it. A drain pump, gas valve coil or dryer igniter often carries one part number across all four badges, which keeps supply steady.
What heat and humidity do to Maytag laundry
In a Tampa Bay garage the washer and dryer sit in air that can stay very hot through a summer afternoon. Rubber lid-lock boots, door seals and hoses age faster in that heat, and a dryer exhausting into a long vent run through the attic or up through the roof collects lint that never quite dries out.
Front-loaders in a humid house hold moisture in the door boot and the pump trap. That is why a musty Maytag front-loader is usually a habits problem before it is a hardware problem, and why we look at how the vent is routed before we blame a dryer for drying slowly.
Maytag-only features worth knowing
Some parts exist only on Maytag. Pet Pro washers have a lint and hair filter that has to be emptied. Dishwashers with Dual Power Filtration grind soft scraps with a stainless chopper under the filter. Models labeled Commercial Technology use a heavier motor and drivetrain. We test each of these separately, because a clogged Pet Pro filter and a dying drain pump can look exactly alike from the outside.
Fix it or move on
On Whirlpool-era Maytags, single wear parts are cheap enough to justify the repair most of the time. The tougher calls are a refrigerator with a sealed-system leak, a washer with a failed tub bearing or transmission, and an older pre-2006 machine whose board is out of production. Before a number reaches you, we have already checked whether the part can be had, and if a new machine is the better use of your money, you hear that from us.
Maytag appliance lines
- Refrigerators: Side-by-side, French-door and top-freezer Maytag refrigerators on Whirlpool platforms. Ice makers, water valves, defrost heaters, evaporator fans and dirty condenser coils account for most visits.
- Washers: Top-load washers with agitators or low-profile impellers, Pet Pro models and front-loaders, plus the odd Bravos or Neptune still running. Lid locks, pumps, couplers, shifters and door boots fail most.
- Dryers: Gas and electric dryers, including Commercial Technology and steam versions, many installed in hot garages. Thermal fuses, igniters, valve coils, heater coils, belts and drum rollers lead the list.
- Dishwashers: Maytag dishwashers built around Dual Power Filtration and a steel chopper, many with a third rack up top. Packed filters, jammed choppers, drain pumps, inlet valves and door latches cause most calls.
- Ovens: Single, double and microwave-combination Maytag wall ovens. Elements that burn through, drifting sensors, seized convection fans and self-clean latches that won't let go are the regular repairs.
- Microwaves: Over-the-range Maytag microwaves that also clear smoke from the burners, plus some countertop units. No-heat faults, door interlocks, vent fans, turntable motors and worn keypads come up most.
- Freezers: The freezer side of Maytag refrigerators and standalone upright and chest models. Defrost faults, start relays, fan motors and door seals that let humid air in cause most problems.
- Cooktops: Maytag gas, radiant glass and induction cooktops. We replace spark switches, igniter electrodes, radiant elements, infinite switches and cracked glass more than anything else.
- Stoves: Freestanding gas and electric Maytag stoves with controls on the back. Weak oven igniters, burned elements, scorched coil receptacles and spark switches are the common faults.
- Ranges: Front-control, slide-in and convection Maytag ranges, including Power Preheat models. Touch panels, oven sensors, convection fans and igniters are what we see fail.
Maytag parts and sourcing
Because recent Maytags are Whirlpool designs, their wear items ship from the same big distributors that carry Whirlpool stock, and many cross over to Amana and KitchenAid numbers. Machines from before the 2006 buyout are a different story: certain Neptune washer boards, older refrigerator controls and some transmissions are gone or survive only as rebuilt stock. We read your model and serial tag, confirm stock before quoting, and say so plainly whenever the part going in is a substitute.

Maytag Repair FAQ
A few plain answers before you book. Details about your home or the appliance can go in the form's notes field.
Didn't see your question?
Describe what's happening and include the model plate if you can. We'll say what we can from that, and the rest gets checked at your home.
Whirlpool Corporation, which bought the brand in 2006. Maytag washers are built at Whirlpool's Clyde, Ohio, plant and the dryers at its Marion, Ohio, plant. Inside, they share most of their wear parts with Whirlpool and Amana.
Heat is hard on rubber and plastic: boots, hoses, seals and lid-lock parts age faster. Keep the exhaust run as short and straight as the house allows, prop a front-loader door open after the last load, and inspect the fill hoses yearly for bulges or cracks.
Sometimes. Pumps and door locks can still be bought, a few as revised kits, but other parts have simply stopped being made. We find out what exists for your exact model before suggesting you spend anything on it.
Start with Maytag. We have no place in the Whirlpool repair network, so covered work has to be booked through the maker. When that coverage runs out, call or book online and we will come diagnose it.
