TrueFix Tampa sends technicians to fix appliances in homes and businesses in Tampa and elsewhere in the Tampa Bay area of Florida (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties). The business is run by TrueFix Tampa, which is responsible for the information below. Throughout this page, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the business.
This policy covers the website and the way we handle details you give us by form, phone or text. It is meant to match how the site really works. Where it doesn't make sense, ask, and we'll explain.
Details you type into the repair request form
To get a technician to the right place with the right idea of the job, the form collects:
- residential or commercial service;
- the community, ZIP code and street address where the appliance sits;
- appliance type, brand and the symptom you choose;
- your name, phone number and email;
- free-text notes, for example a model number or a gate code;
- your answer to the optional text-message consent box.
Once you press submit, the request is emailed to our scheduling team, writes an entry in our web server's log, and copies the request into the job-management software we book from. An automatic email goes back to you to say the request arrived. Booking by phone produces much the same record, just typed in by us.
After the visit, the job file also holds the diagnosis, the price you approved, any parts installed and the payment.
Details from the text sign-up page
Our sign-up page for text updates asks for a name, a mobile number and a ticked consent box. To prove consent if it is ever questioned, we save those together with a timestamp, the address of the page the form was sent from and your browser's user-agent string, which identifies the browser and device type but not you. The same record is emailed to us.
Information gathered automatically
- Web server records. Each request to the site leaves a log line with an IP address, the requested page, a timestamp and browser details. We look at these to fix faults and spot misuse.
- Google Analytics (only if switched on). If we enable it, Google places cookies and collects visit data for us, including a count of taps on the call button. Blocking cookies or installing Google's opt-out add-on stops this without breaking anything on the site.
- Phone link taps. Tapping our number can tell our job-management software that a call started from this website. Your own number is not part of that message.
- Service-area maps. Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap and the Leaflet library by unpkg.com. Your browser requests them directly, so they see your IP address like any website would.
There are no advertising pixels, retargeting scripts or session-recording tools on this site.
Why we use it
First, to fix your appliance: confirming the time, routing the technician, diagnosing and quoting, ordering parts and checking back afterward. Second, to run the business: invoices and tax records, answers to later questions about a repair, a sense of which web pages help people, and screening out spam or fraudulent requests. Third, when the law requires it.
Sharing
We don't sell personal information and we don't hand it to other companies for their own marketing. The vendors below process it for us and may use it only to provide their service:
- website hosting, including server logs;
- email delivery;
- job scheduling and customer records;
- text-message delivery, for people who opted in;
- Google Analytics when enabled, and the map providers listed earlier.
Beyond that, information may be released when a court order, subpoena or other legal demand compels it, when someone's safety or property needs protecting, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business, in which case the new owner must follow this policy for what it receives.
Text messages
Texts go only to people who ticked one of our consent boxes, which start out unticked, on the repair request form or the sign-up page. Skipping the box changes nothing about your booking. Our texts are about your job: booking confirmations, reminders, technician-on-the-way notices, part updates and invoice links.
- Message frequency varies with each repair.
- Msg & data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to opt out at any time; reply HELP for help.
- Consent to texts is never a condition of purchase.
- Your mobile number and text opt-in data stay with us: no third party or affiliate receives them for its own marketing or promotions, and they are never sold.
Full program details are in our SMS Terms.
Retention and security
Job and customer files stay as long as we need them to run the business, meet tax and bookkeeping obligations and answer questions about past repairs; after that they are deleted. Text consent records are held as long as we might have to show that consent was given. Pages load over HTTPS, and only staff who book and manage jobs can open customer files.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever exposed personal information about you of the kinds covered by the Florida Information Protection Act (section 501.171, Florida Statutes), we would notify you as that law requires.
Florida privacy law and your requests
Florida's Digital Bill of Rights is aimed at very large technology companies, those with more than $1 billion in yearly revenue that also meet certain business-model tests. A local repair business is not one of them, so the rights that law creates likely do not apply to us. We still accept the following requests from anyone, in any state: to learn what we hold about you, to correct it, to receive a copy, to have it deleted except for records we must keep, and to stop hearing from us. Your Privacy Rights explains how to ask, and Do Not Sell or Share covers selling and advertising.
Children
The site is meant for adults arranging repairs and is not aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information. Should you learn that a child submitted something to us, let us know and it will be erased.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to appliance makers, parts sellers and other websites. This policy stops at our site; each of those has its own.
Updates to this policy
When the policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If an update would change how we use information already in our files, we'll post it here before it takes effect.
