How a Home Visit Works

  1. 1

    Set it up

Call or use the form with the brand, what's wrong and, if you can read the label, the model number.

  2. 2

    Testing in your home

We check the appliance and its connections (outlet, water valve, drain, vent or gas line) until the failed part is confirmed.

  3. 3

    What failed, and the price

You learn the cause and the repair price. Renters can have the quote sent directly to the owner or manager.

  4. 4

    Repair on your OK

Once the price is approved, the part matched to your model goes in.

The House Matters as Much as the Appliance

A lot of failures make sense once you see the spot an appliance lives in and what it's hooked to. These are the homes we see most across the Tampa Bay area, and what each one changes about a visit.

Block-and-stucco ranch homes

Common in Town 'n' Country, Temple Terrace, Brandon and Largo. With no basement, laundry typically lives in the garage or an interior closet, with a dryer vent that can snake a long way across the attic. A spare fridge in a hot garage can fall behind in summer without anything being broken.

Two-story homes in HOA communities

Westchase, New Tampa and much of Riverview have plenty of these, often with the laundry room upstairs. A leaking washer there can reach the ceiling below, so shut the supply valves fast and mention the drain pan when you book. Gate codes help too.

Bungalows and older houses

In Seminole Heights, Tampa Heights and Hyde Park, a modern kitchen can sit on much older wiring and plumbing, and the laundry may be squeezed into a back porch or add-on. We check the outlet, circuit and connections, not only the appliance.

Condos and apartments

Downtown, the Channel District, Harbour Island and the Westshore towers bring stacked laundry in closets and building rules for contractors. Let us know about elevator bookings, front-desk check-in, garage height limits and where a technician can park.

Bayfront and canal homes

South Tampa, Apollo Beach and other low-lying spots near the water face salt air that corrodes condenser coils and outdoor kitchen units. If an appliance sat in floodwater, keep it unplugged and switched off at the breaker until it has been inspected.

Homes closed up for months

Seasonal residents and military families moving on orders sometimes leave a house shut for long stretches. Before you go, shut the supply valves for the washer and ice maker and prop the empty fridge open. When you return, watch each water appliance through its first cycle.

Tenants and rental owners

If you rent, whether it's an apartment, a townhome or a student house near USF, booking the visit is fine. Share the owner's or manager's contact details and they'll receive the diagnosis and the quote. The repair waits for the person paying to approve it. Owners with several rentals can schedule any unit, provided someone is there to let us in.

FAQ

Home Repair Questions

The questions we hear most often about this kind of repair. If yours isn't here, add it to your booking notes.

Didn't see your question?

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.

Yes. Someone 18 or older has to be there to open up and to sign off on the price before work begins. If a tenant will be there instead of the owner, let us know ahead of time who approves repairs and how to contact them.

Yes, as long as someone can let the technician in and someone can approve the price. Tell us who that is when you book, whether it's a neighbor, a property manager or a house watcher.

Yes. Tell us about every one when booking so enough time is blocked out. Each repair gets its own price, and you pick which ones go ahead.

Yes. We're a repair company, not a store, so it doesn't matter where yours was bought. If a past repair used an incorrect part, we'll point it out.

Book it and let us know who will open the door, you, a tenant or a manager, and who is paying. The technician works with whoever is on site, and the price is agreed before any repair.

Yes. If the cost is out of line with the appliance's age and condition, you'll hear that plainly. Built-in refrigerators, wall ovens and pro-style ranges usually deserve more effort, since replacing them often means cabinet or countertop work as well.

Start with the manufacturer. During the warranty period the maker arranges its own repairs, and paying someone else can get in the way of a claim. We're an independent shop, not an authorized servicer for any brand, so we're the call once that warranty runs out.

Look for a label or a metal tag. Fridges tend to hide it on a wall inside the fresh-food section or down by the crispers. On a dishwasher, open the door and check its rim or the tub frame. Ranges keep it behind the bottom drawer or on the frame you see with the oven door open. Washers and dryers put it under the lid, inside the door ring or on the back panel. A clear photo of that tag is ideal.
