Viking Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals

Viking equipment is built heavy, and what wears out is usually small and replaceable: an igniter, a spark switch, a fan motor, a hinge, a sensor. We are independent of Viking and its service network, so anything still within the maker's coverage should be reported to Viking before calling us. Once coverage ends, repair tends to win, because the steel body and burners outlast nearly everything bolted to them.

Homes closed for months
Back after a season away? Run water through the lines and give the fridge a day before judging it, and tell us how long the house sat closed.
Storm season
An appliance that sat in floodwater stays unplugged until it's inspected. Generators belong outside, well away from doors and windows.
Condos & gated communities
High-rises Downtown or on Bayshore, HOA gates in Westchase or New Tampa: put the gate code, elevator rules or guest parking spot in your notes.
Tenants & owners
A renter can set up the visit. We report the diagnosis and the quote to whoever owns the appliance, and they sign off before the repair.
Mostly electric kitchens
Electric and induction cooking outnumber gas around Tampa, though gas ranges exist. Tell us which you have and read us the tag behind the drawer.
Lightning and surges
A nearby strike can take out a control board while the elements are fine. If the failure followed a storm, say so in your booking.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Describe what it's doing and when it started; the model number lets us check parts ahead of time.

02

Find the Fault

At your place the technician checks the unit and its outlet, water supply, drain or vent to find the fault.

03

Your Go-Ahead

You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.

04

Fixed and Verified

After the repair we test a full cycle and check for leaks, noise or codes before we leave.

Viking

Mississippi Delta origins, new owners

Fred Carl Jr. founded Viking in Greenwood, Mississippi, and the first home range built to look and cook like restaurant equipment shipped in 1987. Middleby bought the company in 2013. In February 2026 affiliates of 26North completed the purchase of a controlling stake in Middleby's residential kitchen business, renamed Composition Brands, which also holds AGA, La Cornue, Lynx and U-Line; Middleby kept a minority share.

Those changes reach a repair mainly through parts. Numbers have been superseded and suppliers reshuffled more than once, so we never order from memory. The full model and serial come first.

Fuel types and kitchens around Tampa Bay

Plenty of homes here are all-electric, so a Viking in Tampa may be a dual-fuel range running on a propane tank, an electric wall oven or an induction cooktop as often as an all-gas range on Peoples Gas service. We ask about fuel when you book, because it decides which parts come along.

Viking refrigeration and dishwashers tend to come in with the same renovation, whether in a Davis Islands Mediterranean, a two-story Westchase home or a high-rise condo on Bayshore. Condo visits often need management sign-off and a booked freight elevator, so mention the building's rules when you schedule.

Wear points on a pro-style design

Surface burners on Viking gas ranges light by spark, and many models relight automatically if a flame blows out. Ovens light with a hot-surface igniter, and some carry an infrared broil burner. It is a durable layout, but a handful of parts age predictably: spark switches that short after a spill, igniters that lose strength, convection fan motors, and hinges holding up a very heavy door.

Older Viking ovens rely on mechanical thermostats with a capillary bulb; newer ones use an electronic control reading a sensor. The range's age tells us which set of parts we are testing.

Moist air, salt and storm surges

Humidity is hard on spark ignition, and a rangetop that clicks by itself after a muggy week or a mopping often just needs time to dry out. Homes near the water see faster corrosion on burner hardware, grates and stainless trim. The electronic controls on newer ranges and refrigerators are exposed to the surges summer lightning can bring, and surge protection is worth raising with your electrician.

Viking appliance lines

  • Refrigerators: Built-in side-by-side, bottom-freezer and panel-ready column refrigerators, plus a few freestanding models. Condenser cleaning, fan motors, defrost components, ice makers and hinges cover most visits.
  • Dishwashers: Built-in dishwashers with stainless or custom-panel doors. Drain pumps, inlet valves, clogged filters and door springs overloaded by heavy panels make up most of the work.
  • Ovens: Wall ovens, one or two cavities and often convection, plus the ovens built into Viking ranges. Most failures involve igniters, heating elements, convection motors, temperature sensors or hinges.
  • Microwaves: Built-in and drawer microwaves and convection microwaves set into wall stacks. Drawer drives, door interlocks, magnetrons, touch panels and trim kits are the common concerns.
  • Freezers: Freezer compartments in Viking built-ins and all-freezer columns. Expect defrost parts, evaporator fan motors, ice makers and drawers or doors that have drifted out of line.
  • Cooktops: Sealed-burner gas rangetops and cooktops, some with a griddle or char-grill, plus electric and induction cooktops. Spark switches, electrodes, burner valves and griddle thermostats lead the list.
  • Wine Coolers: Undercounter wine and beverage centers and built-in wine columns. Airflow at the front grille, fan motors, zone sensors and glass-door seals need the most attention.
  • Stoves: Freestanding pro-style gas ranges from 30 to 60 inches wide. Burner ignition, caps and ports, oven igniters and knobs are the routine repairs.
  • Ranges: All-gas and dual-fuel ranges, frequently fitted with convection and an infrared broil burner. The repair list is led by oven igniters, gas safety valves, convection fan motors, controls and hinges.

Viking parts and sourcing

Viking parts travel through the maker's own distribution and through appliance parts wholesalers. Ownership changes have superseded a number of part numbers, so the model and serial on the rating label decide what we order. Igniters, spark switches, electrodes, caps, gaskets and hinges are generally easy to source. Control boards and particular valves for older units can mean a wait, or no direct replacement at all. If an equivalent is the only choice, you hear that before it goes in.

Viking visits are booked across Tampa and the wider Tampa Bay area; the list of areas and ZIP codes shows whether your street is covered.

FAQ

Viking Repair FAQ

What to expect, in brief. Anything specific to your appliance or your building is welcome in the booking notes.

Didn't see your question?

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.

Middleby bought Viking in 2013. Since February 2026 it has belonged to Composition Brands, a business controlled by affiliates of 26North, with Middleby holding a minority stake. Ownership does not change how a range is fixed, but it explains why some older part numbers have been replaced.

Usually water. A boil-over or a damp cleaning rag reaches a spark switch behind one of the knobs, and in muggy weather it can stay wet a long time. Keep the top dry for a day and see if it stops. If not, we test the spark switch, the electrode and the module and change whichever has failed.

Usually. The body, grates and burners last for decades, and igniters, valves, thermostats and hinges are ordinary parts. The difficult cases are electronic controls no longer made for some older models, and we confirm availability before quoting.

Yes. Most range and refrigerator work happens in place or with the unit eased forward onto protected flooring. Tell us about the building's work hours, elevator reservations and loading-dock parking when you book. On gas models we shut off the supply first and leak-check every fitting we touch.
