True Residential Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
True made its reputation in restaurant kitchens, and its home units keep that heavy stainless construction. They last, and when one does fail, the diagnosis runs the way it would on a commercial box: coil and airflow first, then the controller. We work on True independently, outside its warranty network, so equipment still covered should go to True first.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us the Symptom
Describe what it's doing and when it started; the model number lets us check parts ahead of time.
In-Home Testing
At your place the technician checks the unit and its outlet, water supply, drain or vent to find the fault.
A Price You Approve
You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.
Fix and Check
After the repair we test a full cycle and check for leaks, noise or codes before we leave.

Which True Residential Appliance Needs Work?
From a St. Louis garage to commercial kitchens
True dates to 1945, when the Trulaske family started building refrigeration in St. Louis. It's still family-owned, now headquartered in O'Fallon, Missouri, and known mainly for restaurant gear: reach-ins with glass or solid doors, sandwich and pizza prep tables, bar coolers and merchandisers.
The residential line brings that build home with undercounter refrigerators, freezers, drawers, beverage centers, wine cabinets and full-height columns, and True rates its undercounter models for outdoor use. Around Tampa the home units go into larger kitchens, wet bars and covered outdoor kitchens, while the commercial equipment works in restaurants, bars and cafés across the area.
Why coils come first
A True commercial box is a compressor, a condenser coil, an evaporator coil, fans and a controller. The failures are just as direct. A condenser caked with grease and flour is the usual first suspect when a reach-in or prep table starts running warm, and a hot cook line in August makes that coil work even harder.
Prep tables have their own quirk. The rail of pans on top is cooled by air pushed up from the cabinet, so a lid left open, overfilled pans or a blocked air path will warm the pans even while the cabinet thermometer looks fine.
Planning around a working kitchen
A down reach-in in a working kitchen means product has to be moved somewhere. Before starting, we tell you whether the work can be done with food still inside and whether the part is likely to be available locally. At home, access is the bigger question: True undercounters vent through the front, so most repairs never require pulling them out. After a hurricane outage, a unit that won't restart gets checked before the food goes back in, and anything that sat in floodwater stays unplugged until it's inspected.
True Residential appliance lines
- Refrigerators: Residential undercounter units, drawers and columns, plus commercial reach-ins, prep tables and bar coolers. Typical calls: a warm cabinet from a dirty condenser, stalled evaporator fans, gaskets, hinges and controller faults.
- Freezers: Undercounter and column freezers at home; reach-in and undercounter freezers in kitchens. Calls usually involve iced coils from defrost faults, fan motors and gaskets that have stopped sealing.
- Wine Coolers: Glass-door wine cabinets and beverage centers for the home, in one- or two-zone versions. Calls are about temperature drift, fan noise, lighting and worn gaskets.
True Residential parts and sourcing
Because True is a commercial manufacturer first, its parts flow through refrigeration supply houses, and the everyday items rarely take long to locate: fan motors, door gaskets, hinges, thermostats, electronic controllers. Residential-only parts sit in fewer warehouses. True ties build details to the serial number, so we read it from the tag before ordering and give you a realistic wait.

Didn't see your question?
Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.
The design thinking carries over, but model numbers and most parts don't. We order by the tag on your unit and treat home and restaurant equipment as separate lines.
Inspect the condenser coil; a fuzzy or greasy coil is the classic cause. Make sure boxes or equipment aren't crowding the unit, and that the door closes and seals. If all that checks out, the fan, controller or refrigerant circuit needs a proper diagnosis.
Frequently. The cabinets are built heavy, and a lot of what fails is a fan, a controller or a gasket rather than the compressor. If the sealed system has failed on an old unit, the answer is less clear, and we'll say if a new one is the better buy.
