Kenmore Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals

Kenmore has never been a factory. It is a label that other manufacturers built to Sears's orders, so the first job on any Kenmore is finding out whose machine sits underneath. We are independent of Kenmore, Transformco and Sears service; a Kenmore still under its original warranty or a protection plan should go through that coverage first. Once it is out, the prefix on the model number points us to the right parts, error codes and test procedures.

Tenants & owners
A renter can set up the visit. We report the diagnosis and the quote to whoever owns the appliance, and they sign off before the repair.
Bungalows & older houses
In a pre-war bungalow or an early ranch, a modern appliance may be wired into a much older house. We look at the outlet, supply line and vent along with the unit.
Straight answers
If an older unit isn't worth the money to fix, we say so plainly and show you which part gave out.
Homes closed for months
Back after a season away? Run water through the lines and give the fridge a day before judging it, and tell us how long the house sat closed.
Hot garages
A second fridge or chest freezer in a summer garage may cycle nonstop and still run warm. Compare the garage to the ambient range in the owner's manual before calling it broken.
Sweating doors
Muggy air shows up as beads on the door edge and wet gaskets. A tired seal, or an energy-saver setting that switches off the door heaters, is often behind it.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Tell Us the Symptom

Tell us the appliance, its maker and the symptom. A photo of the model plate saves a step.

02

In-Home Testing

We test the likely parts on site, along with the power, water or venting the appliance depends on.

03

A Price You Approve

We explain what failed and quote the repair. Nothing is done until you agree to the price.

04

Fix and Check

We install the part matched to your model, then run it to make sure the problem is gone.

Kenmore

A badge, not a builder

Sears used Kenmore as its house brand for most of the last century, and the machines came from outside manufacturers under contract: Whirlpool, the Electrolux-owned Frigidaire family, LG and others. A Kenmore refrigerator and a Kenmore dryer bought on the same afternoon might share nothing but the logo.

Transformco bought the brand along with most of Sears's assets in 2019, and in 2025 a licensing deal was announced for Curtis International to build and sell new Kenmore appliances in North America. None of that changes the repair of a machine already in your house; its builder was settled the day it shipped.

The three digits ahead of the dot

A Kenmore model number looks like 110.12345678, and the three digits before the dot are a source code. 106 and 110 belong to Whirlpool, 795 and 796 to LG, and 253 to the Frigidaire family under Electrolux. Many other codes exist, and we look yours up instead of trusting memory.

With the source known, the appliance is diagnosed like its builder's own product: a 110 dryer is a Whirlpool dryer in a different cabinet, and a 796 front-loader runs LG's design and error logic. A photo of the rating label sent with your booking lets that research happen before the visit.

Kenmores around Tampa Bay

Decades of Sears sales left Kenmores all over the area: a washer and dryer in the garage of a Town 'n' Country ranch, a second refrigerator in a Brandon garage, a stove in a rental near USF. Plenty are old and still going.

Location matters here. Summer heat in an attached garage pushes a refrigerator or freezer beyond the room temperature many models are built for, and a dryer exhausting from a hot garage works harder. Older Whirlpool-built laundry is simple and well supplied; other aging Kenmores with discontinued boards may not justify a big repair, and you hear that before any part is ordered.

Parts come from the real maker

Kenmore parts are ordered from the company that built the appliance, under its part numbers, and many are identical to that maker's own branded parts. That keeps pumps, belts, igniters and fans easy to find. Kenmore-only consoles, control panels and some boards are the exception and can be scarce on older units.

Kenmore appliance lines

  • Refrigerators: Top-freezer through French-door, sourced from Whirlpool (106), the Frigidaire family (253) and LG (795). Defrost faults, fans, ice makers and water valves lead the work.
  • Washers: Top-load and front-load washers, largely Whirlpool (110) or LG (796) designs. Most repairs involve the drain pump, a lid or door lock, a coupler, the shifter or the door boot.
  • Dryers: Gas and electric dryers, mostly Whirlpool (110) or LG (796) platforms. Thermal fuses, heating elements, igniters and valve coils, belts and drum rollers are the usual repairs.
  • Dishwashers: Built-in Kenmore and Kenmore Elite dishwashers from several manufacturers. Clogged filters, drain pumps, inlet valves, latches and wash motors generate most calls.
  • Ovens: Oven cavities in Kenmore ranges plus some wall ovens. Bake and broil elements, temperature sensors, gas igniters and self-clean door locks fail most.
  • Microwaves: Over-the-range and countertop microwaves made by outside suppliers, LG among them. Units that hum without heating, door switches, vent fans and turntable motors are typical.
  • Freezers: Chest and upright freezers and refrigerator freezer sections, many built by the Frigidaire family (253). Start relays, defrost parts, thermostats and gaskets are frequent.
  • Cooktops: Gas, radiant glass and coil-element tops. Igniters and spark switches, infinite switches, coil receptacles and radiant elements are what usually fail.
  • Stoves: Freestanding gas and electric Kenmore stoves, a fixture in rentals and older kitchens. Oven igniters, bake elements, burner ignition and coil receptacles are routine.
  • Ranges: Freestanding, front-control and slide-in ranges, many with convection. Touchpads, control boards, convection fans, oven sensors and igniters are the common faults.

Kenmore parts and sourcing

Every Kenmore part is ordered through the manufacturer named by the model prefix, and many carry the same numbers as that maker's own brand. Common wear items such as pumps, valves, belts, igniters and fans are rarely a problem to find. Kenmore-only consoles, trim and certain older control boards are harder, and some are discontinued. We look up the full model number before quoting and say so when an equivalent part is the only route.

FAQ

Kenmore Repair FAQ

Short answers to what people usually ask before a visit. Anything not covered can go in the notes when you book.

Didn't see your question?

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.

Read the prefix, the three digits before the dot in the model number. 106 and 110 are Whirlpool, 253 is the Frigidaire family owned by Electrolux, and 795 and 796 are LG. Many other prefixes exist, and we look yours up.

On the rating label. Refrigerators usually carry it on an inside side wall or the ceiling of the fresh-food section. On laundry it may be beneath the lid, on the frame inside the door or on the rear panel. Dishwashers print it along the door edge or the tub rim. A sharp phone photo works well.

That depends on the fault and on who built it. A Whirlpool-built washer or dryer that needs a belt, pump or thermal fuse is usually worth fixing. A compressor, a refrigerant leak or a board that is no longer made, on an older unit, usually is not. You hear our honest opinion along with the price.

No. We are an independent service with no tie to Kenmore, Transformco or Sears. If a warranty or protection plan still covers your Kenmore, check with that provider first.
