Insignia Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Insignia is a store label owned by Best Buy, and outside factories build its appliances to order. We aren't affiliated with Best Buy. If the unit is still inside its original coverage, or you bought a protection plan with it, start with Best Buy or the plan company. When that's finished, we can come out, track down what failed and give you a price, and nothing happens until you agree to it.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us the Symptom
The brand, the model tag if you can find it, and what you're seeing or hearing. Codes help too.
In-Home Testing
At your place the technician checks the unit and its outlet, water supply, drain or vent to find the fault.
A Price You Approve
You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.
Fix and Check
With the part fitted, we run the appliance through a cycle while you're there to confirm the fix.

Which Insignia Appliance Needs Work?
A label, not a factory
Best Buy owns the Insignia name but no appliance plants. Contract manufacturers build each model to the retailer's spec, and the supplier behind one Insignia freezer may have nothing to do with the supplier behind the next, even when the two look nearly identical on the sales floor.
So the logo tells us very little. The model number, which on Insignia products starts with NS-, is what links your unit to a parts list and a wiring diagram, and it's also how we find out quickly whether parts exist at all.
Where these units end up in Tampa
Insignia compact refrigerators fill dorm rooms and apartments around USF and the University of Tampa, and they turn up in home offices, guest suites and pool cabanas. Chest freezers usually go into the garage for bulk shopping or a fishing haul, and beverage coolers sit under home bars and on lanais.
Garages and lanais are where trouble starts. A Tampa garage in July can run hotter than the room range printed in the manual, and a unit pushed past that range will run constantly and still warm up. Check that limit before deciding the freezer is broken.
Parts are the deciding factor
Supply for Insignia parts is thinner than for the major brands. Gaskets, thermostats, fan motors and some control parts are often findable; compressors, sealed-system parts and many boards are not. Availability is the first thing we check once the fault is known.
On a small, inexpensive appliance the repair also has to beat the price of a replacement, and we'll tell you honestly when it doesn't.
Insignia appliance lines
- Refrigerators: Mini fridges, top-freezer models and a few larger units. Thermostats, fans, defrost components, gaskets and compressor start relays are the common repairs.
- Microwaves: Mostly countertop microwaves. Interlock switches, fuses, magnetrons, turntable motors and keypads are the usual repairs.
- Freezers: Chest and upright freezers, many sitting in hot garages. Thermostats, lid gaskets, start relays and the defrost parts on frost-free uprights fail most often.
- Wine Coolers: Wine and beverage coolers, both thermoelectric and compressor-cooled. Peltier modules, fans, thermostats, door gaskets and control boards account for most failures.
Insignia parts and sourcing
We look for Insignia parts through suppliers that cross-reference NS- model numbers, and sometimes through the original manufacturer, where the same part carries a different number. Supply is patchy. Gaskets, thermostats and fans are the likeliest to be found, while compressors and many boards may not be sold at all. We confirm before recommending a repair, and if only an equivalent part fits, you're told before it goes in.

Insignia Repair FAQ
The questions we hear most often about this kind of repair. If yours isn't here, add it to your booking notes.
Didn't see your question?
Describe what's happening and include the model plate if you can. We'll say what we can from that, and the rest gets checked at your home.
Outside manufacturers that Best Buy contracts with, and the supplier can change between models and years. The NS- model number on the label is what tells us which parts apply.
It depends on the fault. A thermostat, fan, gasket or start relay is usually worth replacing. A refrigerant leak or a dead compressor on a compact unit usually isn't, and some Insignia parts simply aren't sold, which can settle it.
Not yet. While the plan is active, repairs go through Best Buy's process. Once it has expired, give us a call.
