GE Appliances Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals

GE Appliances has been in American kitchens for generations, and its parts pipeline is one of the deepest in the business. Our shop operates on its own, outside GE Appliances' factory service. While GE's warranty still covers your appliance, start with GE. Once it has lapsed, we come to the house, track down the failure, walk you through it and quote the repair, and the work waits until you approve.

Bungalows & older houses
In a pre-war bungalow or an early ranch, a modern appliance may be wired into a much older house. We look at the outlet, supply line and vent along with the unit.
Straight answers
If an older unit isn't worth the money to fix, we say so plainly and show you which part gave out.
Homes closed for months
Back after a season away? Run water through the lines and give the fridge a day before judging it, and tell us how long the house sat closed.
Storm season
An appliance that sat in floodwater stays unplugged until it's inspected. Generators belong outside, well away from doors and windows.
Mostly electric kitchens
Electric and induction cooking outnumber gas around Tampa, though gas ranges exist. Tell us which you have and read us the tag behind the drawer.
Lightning and surges
A nearby strike can take out a control board while the elements are fine. If the failure followed a storm, say so in your booking.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Tell us the appliance, its maker and the symptom. A photo of the model plate saves a step.

02

Find the Fault

At your place the technician checks the unit and its outlet, water supply, drain or vent to find the fault.

03

Your Go-Ahead

We explain what failed and quote the repair. Nothing is done until you agree to the price.

04

Fixed and Verified

After the repair we test a full cycle and check for leaks, noise or codes before we leave.

GE Appliances

A Louisville company with an overseas owner

GE Appliances runs its business from Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, and has belonged to China's Haier since 2016, using the GE name under license from General Electric. Louisville turns out dishwashers and laundry, Decatur, Alabama builds top-freezer refrigerators, and LaFayette, Georgia makes ranges, cooktops and wall ovens. The family of badges includes GE, GE Profile, Café, Monogram, Hotpoint and Haier.

GE, Profile and Café often share chassis and electronics under different doors and handles. That overlap is useful when we're hunting for a part.

From Hyde Park bungalows to New Tampa builds

Builder packages in the master-planned subdivisions of New Tampa, Westchase and FishHawk very often came with GE throughout: refrigerator, range, dishwasher and over-the-range microwave bought as a set. Older kitchens in Seminole Heights and Hyde Park may still have a GE top-freezer refrigerator or a coil-top range that has outlasted two remodels.

Profile and Café pieces show up in renovated kitchens, and the occasional Advantium speed oven hangs over a cooktop. Seasonal homes that sit closed for months bring their own GE problems, mostly stale water lines and ice makers that need a restart.

Things a GE technician knows

GE ovens use a well-known set of codes: F3 for an open oven sensor, F4 for a shorted one, F7 for a stuck function key. Many GE refrigerators keep their main board low at the back near the compressor, where heat and dust collect. Certain models take the RPWFE water filter, which carries an RFID chip the refrigerator reads before it will dispense normally.

GE top-load washers use a shifter and clutch arrangement that varies by generation, and GE dryers ride the drum on rollers or front glides, depending on the model.

Deciding whether a GE is worth fixing

Most GE failures are one inexpensive part, and fixing that makes sense on almost any GE in decent shape.

Where it gets closer: a sealed-system leak or dead compressor on an older refrigerator, a washer transmission, or a discontinued board on an aging range. In those cases you get the repair price, a frank opinion and the reasons, and the decision stays yours.

GE Appliances appliance lines

  • Refrigerators: Top-freezer, side-by-side, bottom-freezer and French-door models under all three main badges. Defrost faults, main boards, ice makers, RPWFE filter recognition and condenser fans lead the calls.
  • Washers: Top-loaders with agitator or impeller, front-loaders and the newer UltraFast combo. Shifters, lid locks, drain pumps, suspension and inlet valves are typical repairs.
  • Dryers: Electric and gas dryers on rollers or front glides. Thermal fuses, heating elements, igniters, valve coils, belts and glides make up most visits.
  • Dishwashers: GE, Profile and Café built-ins assembled in Louisville. Filters, drain pumps, inlet valves, door latches and control boards come up most.
  • Ovens: Range ovens, single and double wall ovens, and Advantium speed ovens. F3 and F4 sensor faults, F7 keypads, elements, igniters and door locks are common.
  • Microwaves: Over-the-range microwaves and Advantium speed-cook units. Magnetrons, door switches, vent fans, keypads and Advantium halogen lamps are common repairs.
  • Freezers: Upright and chest freezers plus refrigerator freezer compartments. Defrost heaters, evaporator fans, start relays, thermostats and gaskets are the usual parts.
  • Cooktops: Gas, radiant and induction cooktops under the GE, Profile and Café names. Igniters, spark modules, radiant elements, switches and induction boards are typical.
  • Wine Coolers: Under-counter wine and beverage centers, mostly Profile, Café and Monogram. Sensors, fans, gaskets, a blocked toe grille and controls account for most visits.
  • Stoves: Freestanding gas and electric stoves in rentals and older kitchens. Bake igniters, coil receptacles, bake elements, sensors and burner switches lead the list.
  • Ranges: Freestanding, slide-in and front-control ranges, including Café dual-fuel and induction. Keypads, main boards, igniters, convection fans and sensors come up most.

GE Appliances parts and sourcing

Few brands are easier to source than GE. GE Appliances sells parts directly, big distributors stock the fast movers, and a lot of hardware is common to GE, Profile and Hotpoint, with some carried into Café. Older part numbers get replaced by newer ones, and certain boards for older ranges and refrigerators are no longer made. We search by model and serial number, explain when the part that fits is a substitute or a newer revision, and tell you up front if a board is gone for good.

GE Appliances visits are booked across Tampa and the wider Tampa Bay area; the list of areas and ZIP codes shows whether your street is covered.

FAQ

GE Appliances Repair FAQ

What to expect, in brief. Anything specific to your appliance or your building is welcome in the booking notes.

Didn't see your question?

Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.

Not in any way you'd notice. Haier bought GE Appliances in 2016, but the company still designs and builds much of its line in the US, sells GE parts directly, and uses the same model and serial numbering. Repairs work the way they always have.

No need. Each appliance is a separate repair decision. Matching finishes are nice, but replacing working appliances to keep a set together is rarely worth it. We'll tell you if the failed one is worth fixing on its own.

The diagnosis is the same, and many internal parts are shared. Café and Profile models have more features, such as dual-fuel, convection, built-in coffee or extra ice makers, which add parts, and trim pieces are specific to each line.

Please contact GE Appliances first, since in-warranty repairs go through their own service. Paying an independent shop may complicate a claim. After the coverage period, call us.
