Range Repair Around Tampa Bay
A range is the complete appliance: burners, oven, the control that runs them and the power or gas feeding it all. Use this page when the problem is bigger than one burner or the oven alone.
Booking online? The range's model tag in the notes helps us line up the right part.
Two short steps: what needs fixing and where, then your contact details. We get back to you to set a time.
Why a whole range is its own diagnosis
A range is more than a cooktop stacked on an oven. The two halves share a control, a power connection and, on gas models, a pressure regulator and single supply line. When one of those shared parts fails, the symptoms show up everywhere at once: a blank display, every burner out, both halves erratic, or trouble that started right after the range was moved.
Freestanding ranges have finished sides and a raised backguard with controls. Slide-in models fit flush between cabinets with controls up front. Dual-fuel models combine a gas cooktop and an electric oven, so they need both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit. Pro-style ranges use heavier burners, often more than one oven, and parts designed to be serviced.
Installation matters more than most people expect. The anti-tip bracket, the floor beneath the leveling legs, the gas connector and the power cord matched to the outlet all affect both safety and how the range performs.

Whole-range symptoms and likely causes
Problems that involve the entire appliance, and the shared parts that usually cause them.
- Blank display, nothing responds
- Breaker tripped, one leg of the 240V circuit lost, power cord or its connection loose, control board, thermal fuse
- Every gas burner weak or unlit
- Supply valve partly closed, regulator fault, low gas pressure, spark module
- Burners and oven both erratic
- Control board, wiring harness, terminal block connection, low or uneven voltage at the outlet
- Range tips forward when the door is loaded
- Anti-tip bracket missing or not engaged, uneven floor, leveling legs set wrong
- Dual-fuel oven cold, burners fine
- Oven circuit breaker tripped or wired wrong, oven control, element
- Trouble began after the range was moved
- Kinked gas connector, cord or terminal block loosened, harness pinched, regulator disturbed
- Range sat in floodwater
- Corrosion on the control, wiring and terminal block, water in gas valves; inspect before use
Checks to do before booking
- Look at the breaker. Electric and dual-fuel ranges use a two-pole 240V breaker, and if one half trips the display may light while nothing heats.
- On a gas range, check that the valve on the line behind it is turned fully on. When just the burners, or just the oven, are out, the supply is unlikely to be the cause.
- Open the oven door and press down gently. If the back feet lift off the floor, the anti-tip bracket isn't doing its job.
- After an outage or a code, cut power at the breaker for about a minute, then restore it so the control restarts.
- Write down any code and the model number, usually on a plate behind the storage drawer or inside the oven door frame.
Safety first: If you smell gas, get out and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Don't drag a gas range out yourself, since bending the flexible connector can crack it. An electric range's cord and terminal block stay live until the breaker is off. Never use a range or oven to heat the house, and never run a generator indoors or in a garage.
When a range needs a technician
- Nothing works even though power and gas are confirmed.
- Burners and oven misbehave together.
- Problems began after the range was moved or installed.
- The anti-tip bracket is missing or the range rocks.
- It sat in floodwater, you smell gas, or the cord is scorched.
How a range repair visit works
The supply is checked before anything else: the voltage reaching the range, and on gas models the connector and gas pressure. Then the control, harness and failing section are tested. If the range has to come out, we pull it, shut the gas where needed, and reinstall it with the anti-tip bracket engaged.
The diagnosis and price come first. Work starts only when you say go.
Repair or replace the range?
Most range repairs are modest: igniters, elements, switches, sensors, cords, and many control boards too. An entry-level range with a rusted oven floor, several failures at once, or heavy flood damage to its controls may not be worth the work.
Dual-fuel and pro-style ranges are nearly always worth repairing because they're costly to replace and built to be serviced. Replacing any range also means matching the opening between cabinets and sometimes changing the gas or electrical hookup.
Why Book Us for Range Repair
Diagnosed as one appliance
Slide-in and pro-style ranges share controls and wiring between the cooktop and oven, so they're tested as a single system, not a burner at a time.
Dual-fuel and pro-style planned ahead
These ranges combine gas burners with an electric oven or use heavy commercial-style parts, so parts and handling are planned around that.
Honest options on aging or storm-hit ranges
When a board is discontinued, corrosion runs deep, or the repair nears the price of a new range, you see the options before work starts.

Range Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Ranges in South Tampa and other low-lying neighborhoods along the bay sat in floodwater during Hurricane Helene's surge in 2024, and a range that has been underwater should not be switched on or lit until its controls, wiring and gas valves are inspected. Storms also bring outages and power coming back in surges, which can leave a control board dark. Households moving in and out around MacDill often find a range acting up after it was shifted for cleaning or a move-out inspection.
How a Range Repair Visit Works

Range Repair FAQ
A few plain answers before you book. Details about your home or the appliance can go in the form's notes field.
Didn't see your question?
Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.
Range and stove are two names for one appliance that cooks on top and bakes below. A cooktop is just the burner surface, built into the countertop. Here, whole-unit faults are covered on the range page, burners on the stove page, and built-in surfaces on the cooktop page.
On an electric range, half of the 240-volt breaker may have tripped, which keeps the display alive while the elements get no power. A loose terminal block or a failed relay on the control can look the same. On a gas range, confirm the supply valve is open.
Yes. Manufacturers require one on freestanding and slide-in ranges. It anchors the back so the range can't pitch forward when a child climbs on or leans on the open oven door. If pushing down on the door lifts the back of the range, the bracket isn't engaged.
Don't plug it in, switch on the breaker or light a burner until it has been inspected. Saltwater from storm surge is especially hard on boards, terminal blocks and gas valves. Some ranges can be dried, cleaned and repaired; others are too corroded to trust.
Sliding a range around can work the power connection loose, bend the gas connector or pinch a wiring harness. With any gas odor, don't use it. A technician checks those connections before anything else.
That depends on its age, condition and what failed. Burner, igniter or element problems are usually cheaper to repair. We'll tell the owner if a repair isn't worth doing.
