LG Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals

LG builds its own motors and compressors, and those two parts shape most conversations about an LG repair. We are an independent repair company with no connection to LG's service network. If your LG is still under its factory coverage, LG is the first call, and it is worth knowing that LG has covered certain compressor and motor parts for longer than the rest of the machine. Outside that coverage, we diagnose at your home, explain the failure and price the repair for your approval before work begins.

Storm season
An appliance that sat in floodwater stays unplugged until it's inspected. Generators belong outside, well away from doors and windows.
Condos & gated communities
High-rises Downtown or on Bayshore, HOA gates in Westchase or New Tampa: put the gate code, elevator rules or guest parking spot in your notes.
Tenants & owners
A renter can set up the visit. We report the diagnosis and the quote to whoever owns the appliance, and they sign off before the repair.
Bungalows & older houses
In a pre-war bungalow or an early ranch, a modern appliance may be wired into a much older house. We look at the outlet, supply line and vent along with the unit.
Hot garages
A second fridge or chest freezer in a summer garage may cycle nonstop and still run warm. Compare the garage to the ambient range in the owner's manual before calling it broken.
Sweating doors
Muggy air shows up as beads on the door edge and wet gaskets. A tired seal, or an energy-saver setting that switches off the door heaters, is often behind it.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Describe what it's doing and when it started; the model number lets us check parts ahead of time.

02

Find the Fault

We test the likely parts on site, along with the power, water or venting the appliance depends on.

03

Your Go-Ahead

You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.

04

Fixed and Verified

With the part fitted, we run the appliance through a cycle while you're there to confirm the fix.

LG

Two motors that define the brand

LG Electronics, headquartered in Seoul, makes the direct-drive motor that spins its washers and the inverter compressor that runs its refrigerators, and it markets both heavily. LG builds washers for the US market at its factory in Clarksville, Tennessee; refrigerators, dishwashers and cooking products for the US come mostly from LG plants in Korea, Mexico and elsewhere. Signature Kitchen Suite, the company's built-in luxury line, is LG engineering too.

Direct drive means no belt, pulley or gearcase between motor and tub. The rotor bolts to the back of the drum and the stator around it does the pushing. Fewer wear parts, but when something does go wrong it is often the bearings, the rotor sensor or the motor wiring.

Why LG compressors get special attention

Many LG French-door refrigerators use a linear compressor, a design with a piston moved back and forth magnetically instead of by a crankshaft. These compressors drew complaints and litigation over early failures, and LG extended coverage on certain compressor parts. That history is why we confirm a sealed-system diagnosis with measurements, and why we ask you to check LG's terms for your serial number before paying for compressor work.

Plenty of LG refrigerators that stop cooling have nothing wrong with the compressor at all. A frozen fan, a defrost failure or a fault on the inverter control board can look the same from the kitchen.

LG in Tampa homes

Stacked LG pairs fit the laundry closets in condos around Westshore and Channel District and the hall closets of many newer townhomes. In the two-story houses common in New Tampa and Riverview, the laundry room is often upstairs, which makes a leaking door boot or drain hose more than a nuisance.

After a hurricane-season outage, an inverter refrigerator restarts on its own when power comes back. If it doesn't, or the display shows a code, a tripped breaker or a surge-damaged board is a more likely culprit than the compressor.

Reading LG's codes and parts

LG writes codes you can mostly read: OE for drain, IE for inlet, UE for unbalanced, dE for door, LE for a locked or stalled motor on washers; d80 through d95 on dryers that sense vent restriction. Smart Diagnosis through the ThinQ app can pass along fault history, which helps, though we still test before buying anything.

Laundry parts like pumps, locks and valves are shared across big model families and easy to find. Ice makers, inverter boards and door trim are narrower and can take longer. We order by the full model number on the label and tell you when the part that arrives is a revised version.

LG appliance lines

  • Refrigerators: French-door, InstaView, door-in-door, side-by-side and bottom-freezer models, many with inverter linear compressors. Ice compartment frost, fan icing, defrost faults and compressor checks come up most.
  • Washers: Direct-drive front-loaders, stacked WashTower units and high-efficiency top-loaders. Pump filters, door locks, rotor position sensors, tub bearings and inlet valves are the common repairs.
  • Dryers: Electric and gas dryers, many with Flow Sense vent monitoring and steam. Thermal fuses, heaters, thermistors, igniters and drum rollers make up most visits.
  • Dishwashers: QuadWash and TrueSteam built-ins with a direct-drive wash motor. Leak-sensor trips (AE), drain faults, inlet valves, heater codes and spray arms lead the list.
  • Ovens: The oven cavities of LG ranges and LG wall ovens, many with ProBake convection and EasyClean. Rear convection elements, temperature sensors, broil elements and door locks fail most.
  • Microwaves: Over-the-range and countertop microwaves, many with an inverter power supply. Magnetrons, inverter boards, door switches, vent fans and touchpads account for most calls.
  • Freezers: Freezer sections of LG refrigerators, including bottom-freezer drawers. Defrost heaters, freezer fans, frozen drains and drawer slides are typical.
  • Cooktops: Induction, radiant and gas cooktops. Induction boards and cooling fans, radiant elements, igniters and cracked glass are the usual work.
  • Stoves: Freestanding gas and electric stoves with basic controls. Oven igniters, surface igniters, hidden bake elements, sensors and burner switches are the frequent fixes.
  • Ranges: Slide-in, front-control and freestanding ranges, gas, electric, induction and dual-fuel, some with InstaView and air fry. Boards, touch panels, igniters and convection parts come up most.

LG parts and sourcing

LG distributes parts through its own parts store and through US appliance parts wholesalers. Because LG reuses laundry hardware across long model runs, drain pumps, door locks and inlet valves are usually in stock somewhere. Refrigerator ice makers, compressor inverter boards and cosmetic pieces are model-specific and slower. We match each part to the full model number, flag when LG has superseded it with a revised version, and remind you to check LG's extended compressor or motor coverage before you pay for either.

FAQ

LG Repair FAQ

Short answers to what people usually ask before a visit. Anything not covered can go in the notes when you book.

Didn't see your question?

Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.

It can shorten one. The ThinQ app or the phone-tone feature reads stored fault history from the appliance, which helps narrow things down. It doesn't test parts. We use whatever it reports as a starting point and confirm the failure with a meter before replacing anything.

Possibly. LG has offered longer coverage on certain linear and inverter compressor parts than on the rest of the refrigerator, and terms vary by model and purchase date. Check with LG using your serial number. If it isn't covered, we confirm whether the compressor is really at fault before you decide.

Leave the door and dispenser drawer ajar after each wash, wipe the folds of the rubber boot, use HE detergent in the right amount, and run the Tub Clean cycle monthly. If it still smells, the pump filter or drain hose may be holding standing water, which we can check.
