Independent appliance repair · Tampa Bay, FL
About TrueFix Tampa
We fix household and light commercial appliances in Tampa and across the Tampa Bay area, in the kitchen, garage or back room where they're installed. Hold us to three things: test before quoting, explain it plainly, and repair only what you approve.
Why we do this
When a fridge or washer quits, most people end up with two poor choices: order parts off a forum hunch and hope, or buy a new machine that may not have been needed. We started TrueFix Tampa to offer a better one. Someone comes to the house, finds the actual fault, and lays out what it will take to fix, so the next decision is made with real information.
That starts with diagnosis, because symptoms overlap. A refrigerator running warm might have a frosted-over evaporator, a stalled fan, a condenser packed with dust or a failed start component. A dryer that won't heat might only need its vent cleared. The technician checks power, water, drainage and airflow along with the appliance, and keeps testing until one cause is confirmed.
Pricing follows from that. The quote covers the repair just explained, and nothing happens until you approve it. If the job changes once a panel is off, we stop and ask again. When the appliance isn't worth repairing, we say that instead of selling you a part.
We answer to no manufacturer. That lets us work on a Whirlpool washer and a Sub-Zero in the same visit. The flip side: if your appliance is still inside the factory warranty, the maker should see it before we do.
What we repair
Cooling, cleaning, laundry and cooking appliances, electric or gas, freestanding or built in: the stacked washer-dryer in a condo closet, the second fridge in the garage, the wall oven in a remodeled kitchen. For businesses we also take on reach-ins, ice makers, warewashers and commercial ranges and ovens.

Who we work for
Every customer gets the same diagnosis and repair. What differs is who opens the door and who signs off on cost, and we pin both down when you get in touch.
Homeowners
Ranch houses in Town 'n' Country and Largo, bungalows in Seminole Heights, two-story HOA homes in Westchase or Riverview with the laundry upstairs.
Home repair →Renters
Your apartment's dishwasher stopped draining? Book it yourself. We report the fault and the cost to whoever's paying and hold off until they agree.
Rentals and landlords →Landlords and managers
Single-family rentals, student housing near USF, condo units and short-term rentals between guests. Tell us who holds the key and who signs off.
Small businesses
Restaurant kitchens, bars, cafés, offices and shared laundry rooms, when a cooler, ice machine, dish machine or range stops doing its job.
Commercial service →Our standards
Information first, decisions yours
The appliance and the money are both yours. What we owe you is the real cause, explained so it makes sense, with a clear price attached. These six habits follow.
Test, then talk numbers
A range that won't heat could be an element, a switch, a sensor or a burnt wire. We measure and confirm which one before a price is mentioned.
Explain it in plain English
You should come away knowing what failed and why it probably happened, not just a part number. Ask to see the old part and we'll show you.
No surprises mid-job
You approve one described repair. If something else turns up once a panel is open, we stop and check with you before going further.
Name the part
Every part is chosen by your model number. Genuine manufacturer stock comes first; if an equivalent is needed, you're told before it's installed.
Say when it's not worth it
An old machine, a discontinued part or a repair that rivals a new unit: we tell you, and the call is still yours.
Be upfront about who we are
An independent repair service, not an authorized center for any brand. Logos on this site show what we work on and nothing else.
How a visit unfolds
Five stages, identical on every job, and the questions that come up along the way.
- 1
Get in touch
Phone us or fill in the form with the kind of appliance, its maker and the symptom. A sharp photo of the model and serial sticker helps us research parts in advance.
- 2
Pick a time and note the access
We settle on an appointment and write down what the technician needs: gate codes, condo check-in rules, which garage door to use, pets, and the name of whoever signs off on cost when that's someone else.
- 3
Diagnosis on site
The technician tests the appliance and what it depends on, from the breaker and outlet to the water supply, drain line, dryer vent or gas connection, until the failed part is identified.
- 4
Findings and a quote
You hear what broke, the likely cause, and the price to repair it. If the appliance isn't worth the money, you hear that here too.
- 5
The repair, once you say yes
With your approval the part goes in. If it isn't on hand, you'll know that at the quote, and we arrange the return trip together.
Where we work
Four counties around Tampa Bay. In Hillsborough: Tampa and Temple Terrace, Brandon and Valrico, Riverview, Gibsonton, Ruskin, Apollo Beach and Plant City. In Pinellas: St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo, Seminole and Palm Harbor. In Pasco: New Port Richey, Hudson, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Dade City, Land O' Lakes and the Lutz and Odessa area. And Spring Hill in Hernando. Coverage goes by ZIP code.
The local housing and climate come up in a lot of repairs. Slab homes put the laundry in a garage that bakes all summer, while newer two-story houses often have it upstairs. Humid air works on door gaskets and washer seals, afternoon lightning can upset electronic controls, and storm-season outages leave fridges and freezers to recover. We keep all of that in mind alongside the part that actually failed.
Got an appliance acting up?
Call or book online. Have the brand and model number handy, describe the problem in a sentence or two, and we'll set up a time to come out.
