LG freezer design and construction
In an LG refrigerator, the freezer compartment is where the evaporator, defrost heater and main fan live, and they cool the whole unit, and on many French-door models it also supplies the duct to the ice maker on the door. Heavy frost on the back panel, or a fan that ticks against ice, means the defrost system isn't clearing the coil: a heater, a sensor or the board. Er FF calls out the freezer fan. A sheet of ice on the freezer floor usually means the drain froze. Bottom-freezer drawers depend on straight slides and a gasket that meets the cabinet squarely, so a bent rail lets humid air in and frost follows. After a long outage, check that the drain is clear before reloading.

Yes. A drawer that doesn't seat lets humid air in, and that moisture turns to frost. Bent slides, a crushed gasket or an overfilled basket are the usual causes. We realign or replace the slides and check the gasket.
Keep the door shut. A full freezer holds food safely for about 48 hours, a half-full one for about 24. When power returns, if the unit doesn't restart or shows a code, check the breaker before calling us.
