LG refrigerator design and construction
An LG refrigerator that warms up has several suspects, and the compressor is only one of them. Many French-door models use LG's linear compressor, driven by an inverter board; when either fails, the fans run and the cabinet slowly loses cold. The same symptom comes from an evaporator fan seized by ice or a defrost heater that burned out, and those are far cheaper fixes. LG displays help: Er FF flags the freezer fan, Er IF the ice fan, Er dH a defrost problem. The in-door ice maker on French-door models is a frequent complaint, with frost packing the ice compartment until the fan freezes and the bin jams. In a humid Tampa kitchen, door gaskets that don't seal let enough moisture in to speed that up. If the sealed system is at fault, check LG's compressor coverage before paying.

It points to the fan that blows cold air into the ice maker compartment. Often the fan is frozen in place by frost from a moisture leak or a defrost problem. We thaw it, find where the moisture comes from, and replace the fan only if it tests bad.
We measure. Checking the inverter board's output, the compressor windings, and temperatures across the evaporator separates a sealed-system failure from a fan or defrost fault. We don't condemn a compressor on symptoms alone.
