Thermador cooktop design and construction
Thermador gas cooktops and rangetops use the star burner, and its long perimeter of ports means one clogged point shows as a visible gap. ExtraLow burners click and relight by design while simmering. Spark switches behind the knobs short when a spill runs into them, and then every igniter clicks. Induction models, including Freedom Induction with its pan-anywhere surface, rely on power electronics and a cooling fan pulling air from the cabinet below. Rangetops sit on a base cabinet with a gas line and an electrical feed for ignition. We confirm the fuel type and model before the visit so the right parts and gauges come along.

Induction needs a flat, magnetic base that covers enough of the zone. If a magnet sticks firmly to the pan and the error persists, we test the coils, pan detection and power board.
Grease or food in one point of the star blocks those ports. Cleaning the burner with the cap off usually fixes it. A burner base that isn't seated can cause the same gap.
