Electrolux cooktop design and construction
From the top, an Electrolux gas, radiant or induction cooktop can look much the same, but underneath they share almost nothing. The gas tops have sealed burners lit by an electronic spark; expect igniters that do not fire, a switch that keeps sparking after a spill, and food blocking burner ports. Radiant tops run ribbon heaters below the ceramic glass, controlled by infinite switches or touch keys, with a temperature limiter that shuts an element off if the glass gets too hot. Induction tops generate heat in the pan through copper coils, driven by power boards and cooled by a fan, and they will do nothing with aluminum or glass cookware. A dropped pot can crack either kind of glass. Send the model number when you book, so we arrive ready for the right system.

Three things can leave a single radiant burner cold: the element itself, whatever control powers it (an infinite switch or a touch board), or a loose wire under the glass. We check for power at the element and measure the element itself before ordering anything.
Glass that has cracked cannot be safely repaired, so the top must be replaced. Electrolux frequently supplies the glass only as an assembly with its frame, sometimes with elements already fitted. We price that part first so you can compare it with a new cooktop.
