La Cornue Cooktop Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
La Cornue has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your cooktop is still under La Cornue's factory warranty, start with La Cornue. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.
How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
Which burner, element or oven function fails, any code on the display, and whether it's gas, electric or induction.
Diagnosis at Home
The technician checks heat sources, sensors and switches, and confirms the power or gas reaching the unit.
Quote Before Work
You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.
Repair and Test
After the repair we test a full cycle and check for leaks, noise or codes before we leave.
La Cornue cooktop design and construction
La Cornue burner sections use spark ignition and, on most configurations, a thermocouple at each burner that cuts the gas if the flame blows out. Château tops can be ordered with a French top: a thick cast plate over a single central burner, hottest in the middle and cooler toward the rim, which you cook on by sliding pans from zone to zone. Most cooktop calls fit one of three patterns: no spark, a flame that won't hold once the knob is released, or a ragged, lifting flame from ports packed with residue or a cap set back crooked after cleaning. A French top that never gets truly hot points to fouled burner ports or weak ignition. In a muggy kitchen, a burner area left wet after wiping can keep an igniter clicking until it dries.
Common La Cornue cooktop failures
- Flame dies when the knob is released
- Electrode not sparking
- Ports clogged after boil-overs
- French top heating weakly
- Valve stem stiff or sticking

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.
The electrode may be cracked or dirty so the spark lands in the wrong spot, or the ports beside it may be blocked so no gas reaches the spark. We clean, inspect and test before replacing anything.
Very hot in the center and noticeably cooler at the edges; that gradient is the point of the design, and it takes a while to come up. If the center stays lukewarm after a long heat-up, the burner underneath needs a look.
