Dacor cooktop design and construction
You can spot a Dacor gas cooktop by the glowing knobs and the big sealed burners, and many can hold a very gentle simmer. One spark module serves all the igniters, and certain models reignite a burner on their own when its flame is lost. That relight feature depends on the module sensing the flame, so a greasy igniter or a cap sitting off-center can keep it ticking with the burner plainly lit. Knob lighting has its own supply and fails independently. Induction and radiant tops follow electronic patterns instead, with power boards, cooling fans and glass. Most cooktops sit above a drawer or wall oven, so we locate the gas shutoff before starting.
Common Dacor cooktop failures
- Relight ticking with flame on
- Knob lighting out
- Spark module dead
- Cap off-center after cleaning
- Induction board fault

Didn't see your question?
Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.
Auto-relight models sense the flame through the igniter. Grease on it, a crooked cap or moisture makes the system think the flame is out. Cleaning and drying fixes many cases; otherwise we test the igniter and module.
In most cases, yes. Knob lighting is powered separately from the valves and igniters, so the burners keep working. If you want the glow back, the failed light supply or harness can be replaced.
