Kenmore Cooktop Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Kenmore has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your cooktop is still under Kenmore's factory warranty, start with Kenmore. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

Inside a Kenmore cooktop
Kenmore has sold gas, radiant glass and coil-element cooktops, built by several different companies, so the label comes first. Gas tops usually fail in two ways: an igniter that clicks without lighting, typically because a spark switch is damp or an electrode has cracked, and caps sitting off their bases. Radiant tops have elements under the glass, each run by an infinite switch, and one that refuses to heat or refuses to shut off narrows it to that element or its switch. Coil tops, still common in rentals, plug each element into a receptacle block that scorches and loosens over time. Once the terminals are pitted, replacing just one half rarely lasts, so the receptacle and element usually go in together.
Common Kenmore cooktop failures
- Spark switch stuck clicking
- Electrode cracked
- Radiant element not heating
- Infinite switch failing
- Scorched coil receptacle

Didn't see your question?
Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.
Get it fixed. A loose, intermittent burner usually means the receptacle has burned or the element's terminals have pitted, and that connection keeps heating up. We fit a new receptacle and, if needed, a new element.
Almost always the infinite switch for that burner. The switch and element are both tested so only the failed one gets replaced.
