Maytag Stove Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Maytag has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your stove is still under Maytag's factory warranty, start with Maytag. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

We install the part matched to your model, then run it to make sure the problem is gone.
Maytag stove design and construction
The rear-control freestanding Maytag is still all over Tampa rentals and older ranch houses. A gas version bakes using a glow-bar igniter that has to pull a set amount of current before the safety valve lets gas through, so an aging bar glows orange while the oven stays cold; it is the most common gas stove repair we make. Electric versions burn through their bake and broil elements, and a coil that only heats when you jiggle it usually sits in a scorched socket. Even a gas stove needs its outlet live for the clock and igniter, and after a summer lightning storm, a stove with a dead clock and no oven deserves a look at the outlet and the board before assuming the worst.
Common Maytag stove failures
- Glow-bar igniter lit but the valve stays shut
- Bake element blistered and open
- Coil receptacle burned
- Infinite switch failing on one burner
- Oven running hot or cold from a drifting sensor

Didn't see your question?
Describe what's happening and include the model plate if you can. We'll say what we can from that, and the rest gets checked at your home.
The top burners use spark; the oven uses a glow bar. An old glow bar still lights up orange yet draws too little current to open the valve. A meter reading tells us whether yours has dropped below spec.
Usually it is the receptacle the coil plugs into; its contacts pit and burn over time. We normally replace the coil and receptacle together so the new element gets a clean connection.
