Vulcan Stove Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Vulcan has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your stove is still under Vulcan's factory warranty, start with Vulcan. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

Vulcan stove design and construction
Most Vulcan open-burner tops light from standing pilots, with each pilot firing one or two burners through a short flash tube. If that pilot has gone out, turning the valve sends gas to a burner with nothing to light it. Pilots fail for a short list of reasons: a fouled orifice, a cross-draft from the hood or a propped-open back door, or grease dripping into the opening. Over time the burner heads themselves carbon up, and the flame turns soft, lazy or yellow. Every burner also has an air shutter that sets the mix of gas and air, and a shutter bumped during cleaning changes the flame as well. Pilots and heads get cleaned, shutters reset, and gas pressure measured if the flame still isn't right.
Common Vulcan stove failures
- Pilot out
- Burner not catching from its pilot
- Soft, lazy flame
- Ports carboned shut
- Air shutter bumped out of position

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.
Nearly always because the pilot feeding it is out or fouled. The orifice gets cleaned and the pilot relit, then we make sure the flame travels down the flash tube and lights the burner.
Too little air in the mix, from a shutter that has moved or ports caked with carbon. Cleaning the burner and resetting the shutter brings back a sharp blue flame.
