KitchenAid stove design and construction
KitchenAid's freestanding ranges are the plainest part of its cooking line, and their repairs are the classic stove repairs. On gas, the oven depends on a glow-bar igniter, and once that weakens it stays lit without ever opening the valve. Top burners need their electrodes and knob switches working to spark. The electric version uses upper and lower oven elements and radiant zones beneath the glass. A sensor that has drifted ruins recipes without throwing any obvious error. Before suspecting a board, we check the outlet, the gas supply if there is one, and the anti-tip bracket, since loose connections cause intermittent faults that look like electronics.
Common KitchenAid stove failures
- Oven igniter too weak
- Bake element burned out
- Surface burner not sparking
- Oven sensor drifting
- Radiant surface element failed

Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.
Most often the glow bar. Age lowers the current it draws until the gas valve won't respond, even though it still lights up. An amp reading settles it.
If KitchenAid still supplies that top, yes. While it's off, we inspect the radiant elements beneath, and the price you approve includes a confirmed part.
