Hotpoint Refrigerator Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Hotpoint has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your refrigerator is still under Hotpoint's factory warranty, start with Hotpoint. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.
How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Note the temperatures if you have a thermometer, any frost or puddles, and the model number from inside the door.
Find the Fault
We read coil and cabinet temperatures, check both fans and test the defrost parts before naming the fault.
Your Go-Ahead
We explain what failed and quote the repair. Nothing is done until you agree to the price.
Fixed and Verified
After the repair we test a full cycle and check for leaks, noise or codes before we leave.
Inside a Hotpoint refrigerator
Nearly every Hotpoint refrigerator is a top-freezer, cooled by a single coil tucked behind the freezer's rear panel. A small fan blows cold air across that coil and pushes some of it through a damper into the fresh-food section. So the diagnosis is short. If the freezer is cold and the fridge is warm, either frost has smothered the coil after the defrost heater, thermostat or timer quit, or the fan itself has stopped. If both halves are warm and you hear a click every few minutes from the back, the compressor's start relay or the condenser fan is next on the list. Lots of Tampa households run a Hotpoint as a garage fridge. In summer that garage can get far hotter than the room temperature the manual allows, and the fridge simply can't keep up.
Common Hotpoint refrigerator failures
- Defrost heater, thermostat or timer failed
- Freezer fan motor stopped
- Start relay clicking, compressor idle
- Condenser fan motor dead
- Door gasket split or pulling loose

Didn't see your question?
Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.
All the cold air starts at the freezer coil, and a fan sends part of it down to the fridge. When defrost stops working, frost closes off that passage. The defrost heater, thermostat and timer or control get tested, and the fan along with them.
Possibly not. A closed garage in a Tampa summer can run well past the ambient range in the owner's manual, and the fridge can't shed heat fast enough. Check the manual's limits and keep the coils clean. If it struggles in a cooler spot too, we test it.
