Frigidaire refrigerator design and construction
On a lot of Frigidaire side-by-sides, the ice maker lives in the freezer door and drops cubes straight into the dispenser. It frees up shelf room, but cubes that partly melt fuse into a block that stalls the auger, and a weak door seal lets frost grow around the ice maker. In humid air, every opening of the door adds moisture, so a tired gasket shows up faster here. French-door models may keep the ice maker in an insulated box in the fresh-food section with its own cold-air duct, and a leak in that box turns cubes into clumps. On a plain top-freezer Frigidaire, look to defrost and the fan first. Dusty coils under any model make it run warm, especially in a hot kitchen or garage.

More often the bucket has a frozen block in it that locks the auger. Pull the bucket, thaw and empty it, and look at the door gasket. If the ice keeps fusing, we test the ice maker, dispenser motor and seal.
Warm air may be leaking into the ice compartment, or its drain may be blocked. We check the compartment seal, the cold-air duct and its fan, and the defrost circuit.
