Kenmore Dryer Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals

Kenmore has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your dryer is still under Kenmore's factory warranty, start with Kenmore. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

Attic and roof vents
Plenty of slab homes vent the dryer up through the attic to a roof cap. Long runs fill with lint, so airflow gets checked before the heater is blamed.
Gas or electric
Most dryers here are electric. If yours burns gas, say so, and if you ever smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility or 911.
Lint and fire risk
Clean the screen every load and never vent into the attic itself. A burning smell is a reason to stop using the dryer until it's checked.
Bungalows & older houses
In a pre-war bungalow or an early ranch, a modern appliance may be wired into a much older house. We look at the outlet, supply line and vent along with the unit.
Straight answers
If an older unit isn't worth the money to fix, we say so plainly and show you which part gave out.
Homes closed for months
Back after a season away? Run water through the lines and give the fridge a day before judging it, and tell us how long the house sat closed.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

Tell us whether it spins without heat, takes two cycles, or stops early, and whether it's gas or electric.

02

Diagnosis at Home

We measure airflow through the vent, test the heat circuit and safety fuses, and check belt and rollers.

03

Quote Before Work

You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.

04

Repair and Test

We install the part matched to your model, then run it to make sure the problem is gone.

Inside a Kenmore dryer

Most 110-prefix Kenmore dryers are Whirlpool's 29-inch design wearing a Kenmore console. Heat is controlled by a one-time thermal fuse plus a high-limit thermostat and a cycling thermostat, and the drum turns on two rear rollers and a front glide, pulled by a belt that an idler keeps taut. Electric models heat with a coil in a housing at the back; gas models light a glow bar, then two coils open the gas valve. Dryers with a 796 prefix are LG's own design, with different sensors and boards. Whatever the builder, most no-heat calls start with the exhaust. A dryer sitting in a hot garage, or pushing air through a long attic run to a roof cap, loses airflow to lint, overheats and pops its fuse.

Common Kenmore dryer failures

  • Thermal fuse blown by a choked vent
  • Heating element open
  • Gas valve coils too weak to open
  • Drum rollers or idler pulley squealing
  • Drive belt snapped

FAQ

Kenmore Dryer Repair FAQ

A few plain answers before you book. Details about your home or the appliance can go in the form's notes field.

Didn't see your question?

Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.

First the exhaust, then the thermal fuse, because a restricted vent is what usually blows it. On electric dryers the element and thermostats come next; on gas dryers, the igniter and valve coils.

On Whirlpool-built gas models, an igniter that glows but never lights the burner almost always means the gas valve coils have weakened. The coils are changed as a pair. Gas is shut off before any work, and every disturbed joint is leak-tested afterward.
