Hotpoint Dryer Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Hotpoint has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your dryer is still under Hotpoint's factory warranty, start with Hotpoint. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

Inside a Hotpoint dryer
There isn't much to a Hotpoint dryer. A belt turns the drum, which rides on rollers or plastic glides, and an electric element or a gas burner warms the air that gets pulled through the clothes and pushed out the vent. When that exhaust path clogs, a high-limit thermostat and a one-time thermal fuse shut the heat off. Here, that usually means a dryer in the garage or a laundry closet with a duct snaking through the attic to a roof cap, and lint loves those long runs. Putting in a fresh fuse without cleaning the duct is just waiting for the next one to blow. Gas models also rely on an igniter and two valve coils that weaken with age, and a drum that squeals or thumps usually has a worn roller, glide, pulley or belt.
Common Hotpoint dryer failures
- Thermal fuse blown by lint-packed duct
- Heating element burned open
- Gas igniter or valve coils weak
- Belt snapped
- Rollers or idler pulley squealing

Hotpoint Dryer Repair FAQ
Short answers to what people usually ask before a visit. Anything not covered can go in the notes when you book.
Didn't see your question?
Describe what's happening and include the model plate if you can. We'll say what we can from that, and the rest gets checked at your home.
Maybe. Electric models point to the thermal fuse, element or thermostats; gas models to the igniter or valve solenoids. The duct gets inspected too, since a blocked vent is what usually takes out the fuse.
For a little while. The noise usually comes from a worn roller, a glide or the tensioner pulley, and a pulley that seizes can shred the belt. These are routine, inexpensive repairs compared with a new dryer.
