Miele microwave design and construction
A Miele microwave is always a built-in: either a microwave mounted with a matching trim frame, or a speed oven that adds a convection fan and element and often sits above a wall oven. The microwave side has the usual magnetron, high-voltage capacitor, diode and transformer, plus interlock switches that have to close in the correct order when the door shuts. A speed oven that bakes but won't microwave has a different fault from one that won't heat at all, and we sort that out first. Touch panels can fail after a surge. The capacitor holds a charge that can kill even after the unit is unplugged, so we discharge it before any testing and never recommend opening the case at home.

Since the convection side works, the fault is on the microwave side: magnetron, high-voltage diode, capacitor, transformer or a door interlock. We drain the stored charge first, then test each part.
Usually it is, because a replacement must fit the same cutout and trim kit. We price the repair after testing and say so if it doesn't make sense.
