Hotpoint Microwave Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals

Hotpoint has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your microwave is still under Hotpoint's factory warranty, start with Hotpoint. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

Hard-to-light burners
Boil-overs and humid air keep igniters damp and clicking. Dry the burner caps fully before booking; if it still won't light, we'll test the switch and igniter.
Self-clean trouble
A self-clean cycle can blow a thermal fuse or lock the door. If the oven died right after one, say so; it narrows the fault.
Lightning and surges
A nearby strike can take out a control board while the elements are fine. If the failure followed a storm, say so in your booking.
Tenants & owners
A renter can set up the visit. We report the diagnosis and the quote to whoever owns the appliance, and they sign off before the repair.
Bungalows & older houses
In a pre-war bungalow or an early ranch, a modern appliance may be wired into a much older house. We look at the outlet, supply line and vent along with the unit.
Straight answers
If an older unit isn't worth the money to fix, we say so plainly and show you which part gave out.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Tell us what fails to heat or light, and send the model number; codes and odd smells are worth mentioning.

02

Find the Fault

The technician checks heat sources, sensors and switches, and confirms the power or gas reaching the unit.

03

Your Go-Ahead

You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.

04

Fixed and Verified

With the part fitted, we run the appliance through a cycle while you're there to confirm the fix.

Inside a Hotpoint microwave

Most Hotpoint microwave repairs involve over-the-range units, the kind that also serve as the vent hood for the stove; countertop models rarely justify the visit. If it runs but doesn't warm food, the trouble lies in the high-voltage parts: magnetron, diode, capacitor or transformer. If it's completely lifeless, a blown line fuse is the common finding, and the fuse almost never blows on its own. Three or so interlock switches have to make contact in a fixed order as the door shuts, and a worn latch or a cracked switch upsets that order and pops the fuse again. The hood fan and cooktop lamps live in steam and grease from the burners and wear out on their own schedule. With the unit bolted to wall and cabinet, repair is often the cheaper route.

Common Hotpoint microwave failures

  • Magnetron failed, no heat
  • Interlock switch popping the fuse
  • High-voltage diode shorted
  • Hood fan motor wearing out
  • Keypad not responding

FAQ

Hotpoint Microwave Repair FAQ

What to expect, in brief. Anything specific to your appliance or your building is welcome in the booking notes.

Didn't see your question?

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.

Quite possibly, but fuses blow for a reason, usually a bad interlock switch or latch. Replacing the fuse alone means it pops again, so the switches get tested at the same time.

Seldom, unless it's something trivial. An over-the-range unit is another matter, since replacing it means unbolting the old one and mounting the new one under the cabinet.
