GE's over-the-range microwaves are also the kitchen's exhaust hood, so a repair may involve the blower, the lamps or the filters as easily as the cooking side. No heat with everything else working means the magnetron, diode or capacitor. A fuse that blows every time the door closes means a door interlock switch has worn. A keypad can fail a few buttons at a time. Advantium models mix microwave, halogen lamp and convection heat in one box, so they have more parts and a longer diagnosis. The capacitor can store a lethal charge with the cord pulled, and that's why the inside of a microwave is not a weekend project. An over-the-range unit comes down with two people, one working the bolts from the cabinet above.
