Miele dishwasher design and construction
Inside a Miele dishwasher, a circulation pump with an integrated heater moves water through the spray arms, a separate drain pump empties the tub, and a three-part filter sits in the floor. The base pan holds the float for the Waterproof system, and on many models the inlet hose carries its own safety valve at the tap end. Newer models add AutoDos, which doses powder from a PowerDisk cartridge. Most calls come down to a filter or drain pump choked with food, a leak that tripped the float, a heater that has stopped warming the water, or a door spring that lets the door fall open. Hard water adds film on glasses and scale on the heater, so keep rinse aid and, where fitted, softener salt topped up.

Lift out and rinse the filter assembly in the tub floor, then check that the drain hose isn't kinked. If it feeds a disposal, run the disposal briefly. If the fault returns, we test the drain pump.
Usually hard-water film. Check that the rinse aid is filled and, on models with a water softener, that it has salt and is set for your water. If dishes are also cool at the end, we test the heater.
