Insignia Freezer Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Insignia has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your freezer is still under Insignia's factory warranty, start with Insignia. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

We read coil and cabinet temperatures, check both fans and test the defrost parts before naming the fault.

After the repair we test a full cycle and check for leaks, noise or codes before we leave.
Inside an Insignia freezer
Insignia sells chest and upright freezers, and around Tampa most of them live in a garage. A chest model is about as simple as refrigeration gets: a dial thermostat, a compressor with a start relay, and condenser tubing inside the outer walls, with no interior fan and manual defrost. Most failures are a thermostat that won't close, a relay that won't start the compressor, or a flattened lid gasket that lets muggy air in, which turns into thick frost. Uprights may be frost-free, which brings in a defrost heater, sensor and fan, or manual with cooling coils in the shelves. Heat matters more than anything here. A garage that climbs past the manual's ambient limit makes the freezer run constantly and lose ground, and that isn't a failed part.
Common Insignia freezer failures
- Thermostat not closing
- Start relay or overload failed
- Lid gasket letting humid air in
- Defrost heater failed on frost-free upright
- Garage hotter than rated ambient range
Problems that aren't peculiar to Insignia are explained on the freezer repair page. Our Tampa Bay service areas page shows where Insignia visits are booked.

Insignia Freezer Repair FAQ
A few plain answers before you book. Details about your home or the appliance can go in the form's notes field.
Didn't see your question?
Describe what's happening and include the model plate if you can. We'll say what we can from that, and the rest gets checked at your home.
Usually not. Condenser tubing runs inside the outer walls to give off heat, so warm sides are normal while the inside stays frozen. Leave a few inches of space around the cabinet so that heat can escape.
Keep it closed. USDA guidance is about 48 hours for a full freezer and about 24 for a half-full one. If it doesn't start up again once power returns, or it was in flood water, have it checked before using it.
