Amana Freezer Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals

Amana has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your freezer is still under Amana's factory warranty, start with Amana. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

Salt air near the bay
Close to the water, condenser coils and fan motors corrode sooner. A unit on a lanai or outdoor kitchen should be outdoor-rated.
Hot garages
A second fridge or chest freezer in a summer garage may cycle nonstop and still run warm. Compare the garage to the ambient range in the owner's manual before calling it broken.
After an outage
Once power is back, give the unit a day to pull down before judging it. If it still won't hold temperature, mention the outage when you book.
Homes closed for months
Back after a season away? Run water through the lines and give the fridge a day before judging it, and tell us how long the house sat closed.
Storm season
An appliance that sat in floodwater stays unplugged until it's inspected. Generators belong outside, well away from doors and windows.
Condos & gated communities
High-rises Downtown or on Bayshore, HOA gates in Westchase or New Tampa: put the gate code, elevator rules or guest parking spot in your notes.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Note the temperatures if you have a thermometer, any frost or puddles, and the model number from inside the door.

02

Find the Fault

We read coil and cabinet temperatures, check both fans and test the defrost parts before naming the fault.

03

Your Go-Ahead

We explain what failed and quote the repair. Nothing is done until you agree to the price.

04

Fixed and Verified

With the part fitted, we run the appliance through a cycle while you're there to confirm the fix.

Inside an Amana freezer

Two kinds of Amana freezer come through: the freezer side of a Whirlpool-built refrigerator, and standalone chest or upright units. In the refrigerator version, the evaporator, its fan and the defrost heater all sit behind the freezer's rear panel, so when defrost quits, that panel frosts over and the fresh-food side goes warm. Chest freezers are much simpler, with a compressor, condenser tubing, a thermostat and a lid seal, and a bad start relay can leave the whole thing silent. A garage freezer in summer may be operating above the room temperature its manual allows. In humid weather, a lid that no longer closes square lets in moist air that builds heavy frost, and the same moisture rusts the lower edge and hinges of an older chest.

Common Amana freezer failures

  • Start relay failing
  • Defrost heater open
  • Thermostat not calling for cold
  • Gasket not sealing
  • Evaporator fan stopped

Faults that Amana shares with other makers are on our main freezer repair guide. Our Tampa Bay service areas page shows where Amana visits are booked.

FAQ

Amana Freezer Repair FAQ

Short answers to what people usually ask before a visit. Anything not covered can go in the notes when you book.

Didn't see your question?

Send us the make, the model tag and what the appliance is doing. Some problems can be narrowed down before anyone drives over; most need hands on the machine.

A defrost problem is the usual cause, whether the heater, the defrost thermostat or the control. Moist air leaking past a poor door seal adds to it. Both the defrost circuit and the gasket get tested.

When the fault is a relay, a thermostat, a gasket or a defrost part, repair usually pays. A dead compressor or a refrigerant leak in an aging freezer generally means it is time to replace it.
