Hotpoint Freezer Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Hotpoint has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your freezer is still under Hotpoint's factory warranty, start with Hotpoint. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.

Inside a Hotpoint freezer
Most Hotpoint freezers in Tampa are chest or upright models out in the garage, some manual-defrost and some frost-free. The chest type is about as simple as refrigeration gets: a dial thermostat, a compressor with a small start device on its side, and condenser tubing running through the outer walls, which is why those walls feel warm. When one stops freezing, we usually find a thermostat that won't close, a start relay that has burned out, or a lid gasket that has gone flat. Frost-free uprights bring a defrost heater, a sensor and a fan into the picture, so their failures read like a refrigerator's. Then there's the garage itself. If it gets hotter than the manual's rated range, the freezer can run nonstop and still fall behind, and no part fixes that.
Common Hotpoint freezer failures
- Thermostat not closing
- Lid or door gasket flattened
- Start relay or overload burned out
- Defrost heater dead on frost-free upright
- Condenser dusty, airflow blocked

Hotpoint Freezer Repair FAQ
The questions we hear most often about this kind of repair. If yours isn't here, add it to your booking notes.
Didn't see your question?
Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.
Look at the lid gasket and make sure boxes and walls aren't hemming the cabinet in. If that's all fine, it may be the thermostat, the start relay or a refrigerant leak, and the inexpensive electrical parts get tested first.
Keep the lid shut. A full freezer holds a safe temperature for about 48 hours, a half-full one about 24, per USDA guidance. If it doesn't restart once power is back, have it checked before restocking.
