Frigidaire Freezer Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Frigidaire has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your freezer is still under Frigidaire's factory warranty, start with Frigidaire. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.
How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
The brand, the model tag inside the fresh-food side, and whether the problem is cooling, ice, water or noise.
Find the Fault
We read coil and cabinet temperatures, check both fans and test the defrost parts before naming the fault.
Your Go-Ahead
You hear the diagnosis and the price, and decide. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you.
Fixed and Verified
After the repair we test a full cycle and check for leaks, noise or codes before we leave.
Frigidaire freezer design and construction
Frigidaire sells upright and chest freezers in big numbers, and around here many of them spend their lives in the garage. A manual-defrost chest model is about as simple as refrigeration gets: compressor, coil and thermostat. Frost-free uprights add a defrost heater, a thermostat and a timer or board, and when one of those quits, frost seals off the airflow. Garage Ready models are built for wider temperature swings, and Frigidaire rates them for operation up to 110°F; others are designed for indoor rooms and can run nonstop or warm up in a summer garage. Clicking with no compressor hum is usually the start relay giving out. After a hurricane outage, a closed full freezer holds food safely for about 48 hours, a half-full one about 24, and a unit that won't pull back down afterward needs a proper diagnosis.
Common Frigidaire freezer failures
- Start relay clicking
- Defrost heater failed on a frost-free upright
- Thermostat not cycling
- Door gasket torn
- Evaporator fan stopped
Problems that aren't peculiar to Frigidaire are explained on the freezer repair page. Our Tampa Bay service areas page shows where Frigidaire visits are booked.

Frigidaire Freezer Repair FAQ
Short answers to what people usually ask before a visit. Anything not covered can go in the notes when you book.
Didn't see your question?
Describe what's happening and include the model plate if you can. We'll say what we can from that, and the rest gets checked at your home.
It may be a non-Garage Ready model working beyond its rated room temperature. Clean the condenser and give it space to breathe. If it's Garage Ready or indoors and still warm, we test the thermostat, fan, relay and compressor.
If it's a manual-defrost model, yes, whenever the frost gets thick: unplug it, move the food to coolers and let it melt. A frost-free upright should never need that, and heavy frost in one means its defrost system has failed.
