Samsung freezer design and construction
The freezer in a Samsung refrigerator has its own evaporator and fan, and on French-door models it also feeds cold air to the ice room on the door. A freezer creeping warmer while its fan sounds muffled usually has a coil encased in ice, the result of a defrost heater, sensor or thermal fuse that stopped working. When the drain is blocked, defrost water pools on the compartment floor, refreezes, and can build up until it reaches the fan. Four-door models with a convertible middle drawer add a sensor and a damper, and a damper stuck shut keeps that drawer from reaching its setting. A Samsung kept in a hot garage runs nearly nonstop through the summer and may not hold temperature at all, so check the ambient range in the owner's manual before deciding the freezer is broken. After a long power outage, a puddle under the unit can mean the drain iced over.

Defrost water isn't making it down the drain. The drain heater may have failed, the defrost cycle may not be running, or a door left ajar let in moisture. We open the drain, find which of those it was, and repair it.
Not necessarily. The owner's manual lists the room temperatures the unit is built for, and a closed garage in July can run well past them. Clean coils and open space around the unit help. If it also struggles indoors, then it's time to test the system.
