Manitowoc Ice Maker Service for Houses, Condos and Rentals
Manitowoc has no connection to us, and we aren't one of its authorized repair centers. If your ice maker is still under Manitowoc's factory warranty, start with Manitowoc. After that coverage ends, send us the model number and what it's doing when you book; that lets us research parts before the visit.
How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works
Tell Us the Symptom
The brand, the model tag inside the fresh-food side, and whether the problem is cooling, ice, water or noise.
In-Home Testing
At your home the technician checks airflow, the condenser, the defrost circuit and the controls in turn.
A Price You Approve
We explain what failed and quote the repair. Nothing is done until you agree to the price.
Fix and Check
With the part fitted, we run the appliance through a cycle while you're there to confirm the fix.
Manitowoc ice maker design and construction
Inside a Manitowoc cuber, water is pumped up to a distribution tube and spills down a vertical freezing plate, building a slab of cubes. When the slab is thick enough to touch the thickness probe, the control switches to harvest: hot refrigerant gas warms the plate and the slab drops into the bin. A separate probe keeps the sump at the right level. The machine stops when the bin is full, sensed either by the hinged water curtain staying open with ice behind it or, on some newer models, by an electronic bin-level sensor. Scale is what throws all of this off, coating the plate and the probes so cubes come out hollow, oversized or welded together. Heat is the other factor in Tampa: a head that can't reject heat stretches every freeze cycle, and a QuietQube condenser baking on a summer roof does the same.
Common Manitowoc ice maker failures
- Scaled freezing plate and probes
- Thickness probe needs cleaning or adjustment
- Water curtain hung open
- Water pump weak or seized

Didn't see your question?
Tell us the brand, model number and the symptom. A few things can be ruled out from a description; most faults need testing on site.
Something is cutting the freeze short or starving it of water: scale on the plate, a fouled thickness probe or weak pump flow. A full clean and a probe check usually cure it. If not, we look at the pump and the sump level controls.
Most often the curtain didn't swing shut, so the control thinks the bin is full. A misreading bin sensor or an incomplete harvest can do it too. We go through those and read the fault history on the control.
